SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Cunningham of Normal, who passed away on January 30, 2019; and

WHEREAS, John Cunningham was born in Bloomington to Michael T. and Abbie Duga Cunningham on October 12, 1930; he graduated from Trinity High School in 1949 and served in the United States Air Force; he married Paula Daly at Holy Trinity Church in Bloomington on January 14, 1953; and

WHEREAS, John Cunningham was a lifelong farmer and spent his career in agriculture; he retired from Myers Inc. in Towanda in 1990; he then retired from State Farm Insurance Company in 2003; he also served as Towanda Township Supervisor for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, John Cunningham was a member of St. Patrick Church of Merna and the Knights of Columbus; he was a volunteer at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center; he founded the Cornbelt Two-Cylinder Club for those who enjoyed restoring John Deere tractors; he cherished any time he was able to spend with his family; and

WHEREAS, John Cunningham was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and Ralph Cunningham; and his sister, Rosemary Cunningham, in infancy; and

WHEREAS, John Cunningham is survived by his wife of 66 years, Paula; his daughters, Trish Cunningham, Therese Cunningham, Mary (Tom) Luttrell, and Lucy (Andy) Mardis; and his grandchildren, John Luttrell, Maggie Luttrell, Abbie (Mark) Fieder, and Mary Mardis; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John Cunningham and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Cunningham as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
