| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Robert D. "Bob" Horner of Streator, who |
| 4 | | passed away on February 4, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Horner was born in Butler, Pennsylvania to |
| 6 | | Robert and Hettie (Steele) Horner on October 11, 1944; he moved |
| 7 | | to Illinois in 1961; he graduated from Marseilles High School |
| 8 | | in 1962; he graduated from Western Illinois University in 1967; |
| 9 | | he married Marcia I. Gilbertson in Marseilles on August 17, |
| 10 | | 1968; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Bob Horner was a teacher and coach at Woodland |
| 12 | | High School; he retired in 2000 after 33 years of service; he |
| 13 | | later drove a school bus from 2004 until 2017; he was an |
| 14 | | Illinois High School Association (IHSA) official for |
| 15 | | basketball, baseball, and volleyball for 35 years; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Bob Horner was a longtime member and Past Exalted |
| 17 | | Ruler of the Streator Elks Club; he was also a member of the |
| 18 | | Marshall County Sportsman's Club, where he served as secretary |
| 19 | | and director; he coached his son in youth baseball for many |
| 20 | | years; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his son |
| 21 | | and grandsons; he also liked gardening and growing raspberries |
| 22 | | for his family, especially the grandchildren; nothing was more |
