SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Denny Hutchings of Sullivan, who passed 
4away on February 13, 2019; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Denny Hutchings was born in Mattoon to Edward C. 
6and Velma Wetzel Hutchings on October 31, 1945; he married Mary 
7Stevens in Mattoon on March 5, 1967; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Denny Hutchings was a counselor at Sullivan High 
9School for 30 years; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Denny Hutchings was a member of the Sullivan Faith 
11Lutheran Church, where he was a church elder; he was a member 
12of the Sullivan Ambucs and was named Ambuc of the Year in 2018; 
13he was also a member of the Big Hat Club, the Sullivan Country 
14Club, and the Moultrie County Retired Teachers Association; he 
15sang with the Prairie Winds; he was Mr. Redskin in 2014; the 
16Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame named him 
17a Friend of Basketball for outstanding achievement in Illinois 
18basketball; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Denny Hutchings was preceded in death by his 
20parents; and

1    WHEREAS, Denny Hutchings is survived by his wife, Mary; his 
2sons, Kris (Misha) Hutchings and Nathan (Jen) Hutchings; his 
3grandchildren, Alex Hutchings, George Hutchings, and Konner 
4Hutchings; his stepmother, Audrey Hutchings; his brother, Gary 
5(Pat) Hutchings; and his sister, Donna Kelly; therefore, be it
  
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
8Denny Hutchings and extend our sincere condolences to his 
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
10further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the family of Denny Hutchings as an expression of 
13our deepest sympathy.
