| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Monica Young, who passed away on December |
| 4 | | 4, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Monica Young was born in Glenview on November 14, |
| 6 | | 1947; she attended Glenbrook High School; she married Richard |
| 7 | | Young on February 26, 1966; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, In 2014, Monica Young was instrumental in |
| 9 | | assisting her husband, Richard, in making McHenry County the |
| 10 | | first county in the State of Illinois to declare itself a |
| 11 | | Purple Heart County through the Military Order of the Purple |
| 12 | | Heart; a two-sided Purple Heart monument, which is the only one |
| 13 | | in the country and is located at the McHenry County Government |
| 14 | | Center, lets people know that wounded veterans are appreciated; |
| 15 | | and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Monica Young, along with her husband, raised |
| 17 | | thousands of dollars for area charities and scholarships; she |
| 18 | | dedicated time on Thanksgiving and Christmas to cook dinner for |
| 19 | | local servicemen; she also coordinated the Friends of the |
| 20 | | National Rifle Association Banquet for 25 years; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Monica Young was a member of the Marine Corps |
