2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Dorothy Suppon of Caseyville, who passed |
4 | | away on January 29, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Suppon was born in Caseyville to George |
6 | | and Anna (Schanz) Struebe on January 2, 1921; she married |
7 | | Victor Suppon on October 3, 1954; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Suppon owned and operated Struebe's |
9 | | Confectionery with her mother until 1960; she also worked at |
10 | | the Martha Manning Dress Factory in Collinsville; after her |
11 | | marriage, she became a full-time homemaker; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Dorothy Suppon was a member of Caseyville United |
13 | | Methodist Church until she was 17 years old and converted to |
14 | | Catholicism; she then joined St. Stephen Catholic Church and |
15 | | had been a member for 81 years; she was a member of the VFW |
16 | | Ladies Auxiliary in Collinsville and the St. Anne Altar Society |
17 | | at St. Stephen Church; she volunteered at the Caseyville Food |
18 | | Pantry and at St. Stephen and Seton Ann Catholic Grade Schools |
19 | | in Caseyville and Fairview Heights; many children looked |
20 | | forward to reading their books to her; she enjoyed playing |
21 | | cards, dancing, and cooking; she loved her family; and
