| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Helen Cornwell of Georgetown, who passed |
| 4 | | away on February 28, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Helen Cornwell was born in Catlin to Frank and |
| 6 | | Lucy (Chop) Kovack on September 18, 1924; she graduated from |
| 7 | | Georgetown High School; she married Homer "Junie" Cornwell in |
| 8 | | Georgetown on May 10, 1947; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Helen Cornwell worked at the Vermilion County |
| 10 | | Courthouse in the Circuit Clerk's office and the County Clerk's |
| 11 | | office for over 20 years; she became Vermilion County Auditor |
| 12 | | in 1976 and served for 12 years; one of the highlights of her |
| 13 | | political career was attending the Democratic National |
| 14 | | Convention in Atlanta, Georgia in 1988 as a representative of |
| 15 | | Illinois; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Helen Cornwell was an active member of the |
| 17 | | community; she was a member of the Vermilion County Democrats |
| 18 | | and the Danville Business and Professional Women (BPW); she |
| 19 | | also served on the Georgetown Township Board and the Vermilion |
| 20 | | County Housing Board; she was a member of St. Isaac Jogues |
| 21 | | Church in Georgetown and the Altar & Rosary Society; and
