SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lena W. Rust of Bunker Hill, who passed
4away on March 14, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lena Rust was born in Dorsey to William D. and
6Minnie Pauline (Johnson) Bertels on June 20, 1924; she married
7Edward Rust at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Dorsey on August 24,
81947; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lena Rust was a farm wife, mother, pianist,
10organist, and cafeteria worker at Bunker Hill schools; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Lena Rust was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in
12Bunker Hill for over 30 years, where she played piano and organ
13and was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid Society and the
14Women's Missionary League; she enjoyed tending her garden,
15quilting, bowling, and traveling with family and friends; she
16had a reputation for being a good cook; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Lena Rust was preceded in death by her parents and
18her brothers, Leonard Bertels and Robert Bertels; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Lena Rust is survived by her husband, Edward; her
20son, Kevin (Karen) Rust; her daughter, Teresa (Donald) Hancock;

1her grandchildren, Brandyn Rust and Gretchen (David) McGinley;
2her great-grandchildren, Malachi, Raelynn, and Romy McGinley;
3her brother, Charles (Norma) Bertels; her sisters-in-law,
4Marilyn Bertels, Corleen Heuer, and Doris Rust; her
5brother-in-law, Dale (Louella) Rust; and her many nieces,
6nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Lena W. Rust and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
10friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Lena Rust as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
