2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Lena W. Rust of Bunker Hill, who passed |
4 | | away on March 14, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Lena Rust was born in Dorsey to William D. and |
6 | | Minnie Pauline (Johnson) Bertels on June 20, 1924; she married |
7 | | Edward Rust at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Dorsey on August 24, |
8 | | 1947; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Lena Rust was a farm wife, mother, pianist, |
10 | | organist, and cafeteria worker at Bunker Hill schools; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Lena Rust was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in |
12 | | Bunker Hill for over 30 years, where she played piano and organ |
13 | | and was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid Society and the |
14 | | Women's Missionary League; she enjoyed tending her garden, |
15 | | quilting, bowling, and traveling with family and friends; she |
16 | | had a reputation for being a good cook; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Lena Rust was preceded in death by her parents and |
18 | | her brothers, Leonard Bertels and Robert Bertels; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Lena Rust is survived by her husband, Edward; her |
20 | | son, Kevin (Karen) Rust; her daughter, Teresa (Donald) Hancock; |
