SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of David F. "Davey" Barten of Joliet, who passed away on March 17, 2019; and

WHEREAS, David Barten was born in Joliet to Lester and Aadra (Schram) Barten on August 23, 1952; he was raised and educated in the Elwood/Manhattan areas and graduated from Joliet Township High School in 1970; he married Carol Glanek Forsythe on May 27, 2006; and

WHEREAS, David Barten worked as an electrician with Union Local IBEW #176 and retired on September 1, 2014 after 40 years of service; and

WHEREAS, David Barten was a member of the Southside Civic Club, the Chaney Club, the Croatian Cultural Club, and was a lifetime member of the Moran AC; in his free time, he and Carol enjoyed traveling, especially to Ixtapa and Ft. Myers Beach; he was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox and the Chicago Bears; he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, singing karaoke, and drinking a good cold beer; and

WHEREAS, David Barten was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Roger Lee Barten; and

WHEREAS, David Barten is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, Tim Barten; his stepsons, Brad (Dr. Eddie Santoyo) Forsythe and Craig (Michelle Bandyk) Forsythe; his grandson, Jacob Barten; his stepson, Mike Brooks, his sister, Judy (Fred) Van Iten; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Margie (Larry) Kowalski, Josie (Stan) Snyder, and Joe (Joan) Glanek; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of David F. "Davey" Barten and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David Barten as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
