SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard "Rick" Ryckeghem of Moline, who
4passed away on March 10, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rick Ryckeghem was born in Moline to Vernon W. and
6Catherine "Kay" (Creen) Ryckeghem on September 13, 1947; he
7served in the U.S. Navy and married Connie Allen; he later
8married Kathy L. (Maranda) Johnson in Moline on April 26, 1980;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Rick Ryckeghem retired as a police detective on
11September 8, 2000 after 32 years of service with the Moline
12Police Department; he later worked for MetroLINK Risk
13Management for over ten years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Rick Ryckeghem was an American Softball
15Association coach for many teams in the Quad Cities from 1973
16to 2018; he was the past president of the Illinois State Crime
17Stoppers Association and was instrumental in starting
18Scholastic Crime Stoppers in high schools throughout Illinois;
19he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family
20and friends; he was a friend and mentor to many; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Rick Ryckeghem was preceded in death by his

1parents; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Rick Ryckeghem is survived by his wife, Kathy; his
3sons, Scott (Kelly) and Todd (Deb) Ryckeghem; his daughter,
4Maranda (J.C.) Millman; his grandchildren, Tyler, Nick, Jakob,
5Ryan, Zach, Owen, Drew, Brady, Liam, Josie, Charlie, Grace, and
6Claire; his great-grandchildren, Willow, Jayce, and Asher; his
7stepgrandchildren, Alli, Kimi, and Gerad; his
8great-stepgrandchildren, Davis, Maggie, Julian, and Jarrin;
9his sisters, Tami (Tom) Cox and Janis (Terry Mooney) Rasso; his
10mother-in-law, Jackie Maranda; and his stepmother-in-law, Carm
11Shouse; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Richard "Rick" Ryckeghem of Moline and extend our sincere
15condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Rick Ryckeghem as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
