2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Charles B. "Chuck" "Chief" Henrici of Elk |
4 | | Grove Village, who passed away on March 5, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Charles Henrici was born in Skokie to Nicholas and |
6 | | Viola (Staak) Henrici; and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Charles Henrici considered joining the Lutheran |
8 | | ministry before being recruited by his brothers into the family |
9 | | business, the fire service; he began his career with the Skokie |
10 | | Fire Department in 1958; he then followed his brother Jack to |
11 | | Elk Grove Village and joined the Elk Grove Fire Department in |
12 | | 1967; there, he was promoted through all successive ranks and |
13 | | retired as Chief in 1988; after his retirement, he served as |
14 | | Chief of the River Forest Fire Department until 2002; with a |
15 | | 40-year commitment to the fire service, he left a lasting |
16 | | impact on the profession by focusing on fire prevention, |
17 | | supporting the Camp I Am Me for burn survivors, authoring |
18 | | hydrogen gas storage standards, and creating the Fire Science |
19 | | degree program at Harper Community College; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Charles Henrici was a member of the Elk Grove |
21 | | Village Plan Commission for 27 years; he helped shape the |
22 | | community through work on several developments, including the |

1 | | growth of Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Walmart, and Home |
2 | | Depot and the redevelopment of the former Grove Mall into the |
3 | | Town Center; he was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church of |
4 | | the Holy Spirit; he supported Wal-Camp in Kingston; in his |
5 | | retirement, he delighted in serving as the honorary Mayor of |
6 | | the Timber Trails cul-de-sac at the Holiday Shores Campground |
7 | | in the Wisconsin Dells; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Charles Henrici was preceded in death by his |
9 | | parents; and his siblings, Betty Lewandowski, Patricia Gartke, |
10 | | Audrey Villani, Nicholas Henrici, Robert Henrici, Virginia |
11 | | Kowalski, and Ronald Henrici; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Charles Henrici is survived by his daughters, |
13 | | Susanne Henrici Cooper and Kathy Henrici; his son, Charles |
14 | | Henrici Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Donna (Allison); their |
15 | | daughters, Katie and Kristi; his brother, John "Jack" |
16 | | (Maryileen) Henrici; Anni Henrici and Tony Villani; and his |
17 | | many nieces and nephews; he will be missed by his many friends |
18 | | at Brookdale Senior Living in Hoffman Estates; therefore, be it

19 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
20 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
21 | | Charles B. "Chuck" Chief" Henrici and extend our sincere |
22 | | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
23 | | him; and be it further
