SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death James R. "Jim" Spencer of Champaign, who 
4passed away on March 24, 2019; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Jim Spencer was born in Danville to Charles and 
6Margaret (Mugsy) Spencer on June 30, 1949; he attended Holy 
7Cross Catholic School, where he was an altar boy, and graduated 
8from Central High School in Champaign; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Jim Spencer was a director for the Champaign Park 
10District, where his accomplishments included the development 
11of many parks, the installation of the only skate park, and the 
12renovation of   the Virginia Theater; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Jim Spencer was respected by many and was known 
14for his relentless pursuit of justice, his guidance, and his 
15compassion; family was a powerful driving force in his life, 
16and he loved his children dearly; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Jim Spencer was preceded in death by his parents 
18and his brother, Bobby; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Jim Spencer is survived by his wife, Judy 
20Ciambotti; his children, Gia Ciambotti, Joel Spencer, Sunny

1Brown, and Rachel Spencer; his brothers, Charles, John, Steve, 
2and Mike Spencer; and his brothers' families; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
5James R. "Jim" Spencer and extend our sincere condolences to 
6his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
7further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to the family of Jim Spencer as an expression of our 
10deepest sympathy.
