SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Nancy L. Long of Gurnee, who passed away
4on December 24, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nancy Long was born in Waukegan to Clark and Leora
6(Liebert) Wetterberg on October 25, 1940; she married Robert
7"Bob" Long on July 10, 1965; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Nancy Long was a talented calligrapher,
9illustrator, and painter; she began her career as an art
10teacher in Highland Park and retired from Woodland Middle
11School in Gurnee in 2008; she was an academic counselor at
12Columbia College of Missouri in Gurnee and wrote the "Village
13Vine" column in the Lake County Journal for many years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Nancy Long and her husband were involved with the
15Northern Michigan Antique Flywheelers for fourth grade field
16day, where they taught farming skills; she was proud to be the
17first female member in the Gurnee Lions Club and later became
18its president; currently, she was the secretary of the Gurnee
19American Legion Auxiliary; she was an avid student of Native
20American culture and history and also had keen interest in
21local history; and

1    WHEREAS, Nancy Long was preceded in death by her parents;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Nancy Long is survived by her husband of 53 years,
4Bob; her son, Tom Long; her daughter, Lisa Long; her brother,
5James (Lynn) Wetterberg; her brothers-in-law, David Long and
6Russell Long; her sister-in-law, Carolyn (Clair) Deavor; her
7many nieces and nephews; and her cats, Torrie and Zoe;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Nancy L. Long and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
12friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Nancy Long as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
