| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Susan Marie Rogal of LaSalle, who passed |
| 4 | | away on April 19, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Susan Rogal was born in Grosse Pointe, Michigan to |
| 6 | | Allyne Cushing and Marie Dorman Litchfield on December 28, |
| 7 | | 1934; she attended Grosse Pointe Country Day School; she earned |
| 8 | | her associate's degree from Colby Junior College in New London, |
| 9 | | New Hampshire; she earned her Bachelor or Arts in Music and her |
| 10 | | M.M. in Piano Performance and Literature from the University of |
| 11 | | Michigan; she married Samuel J. Rogal at Grosse Pointe Memorial |
| 12 | | Presbyterian Church on August 14, 1965; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Susan Rogal held positions on the music faculties |
| 14 | | of the public schools in Grand Rapids, Michigan, followed by |
| 15 | | appointments to the music departments of Oregon College of |
| 16 | | Education in Monmouth, Oregon and Iowa State University in |
| 17 | | Ames, Iowa; following her marriage, she maintained private |
| 18 | | piano studios in Ames, Iowa, Oswego, New York, West Point, |
| 19 | | Mississippi, and LaSalle; she also directed Presbyterian |
| 20 | | Church choirs in West Point, Mississippi and Normal; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Susan Rogal lived in LaSalle for more than three |
| 22 | | decades; she dedicated herself to the teaching of hundreds of |
