SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Helen Kaspar Slivinski of Oak Park,
4formerly of Berwyn, who passed away on January 4, 2019 at the
5age of 89; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Helen Slivinski was a lifelong learner and
7educator; she retired as a librarian from Brook Park School in
8LaGrange Park and afterward volunteered for many years as a
9Cluster tutor in the Austin neighborhood; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Helen Slivinski was a member of Third Unitarian
11Church, serving on their educational scholarship committee,
12and was a longtime member of the Philanthropic Educational
13Organization (PEO), where she continued to support educational
14scholarships for young people; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Helen Slivinski was an accomplished artist and a
16dear friend to many people; she and her husband Paul were long
17time friends and supporters of The Night Ministry and the 16th
18Street Theater; she was guided by the quote "May the longtime
19sun shine upon you, all love surround you, and the pure light
20within you, guide your way on."; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Helen Slivinski was preceded in death less than

1three months previously by her husband of 62 years, Paul
2Slivinski; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Helen Slivinski was the mother of Annie, Lucy, and
4David Slivinski, and grandmother to Theo Glaser, Vanessa
5Slivinski, Kindra Slivinski, and Matthew Slivinski; therefore,
6be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Helen Kaspar Slivinski and extend our sincere condolences to
10her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Helen Slivinski as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
