SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Eugene D. "Gene" DeVilder of East Moline,
4who passed away on May 11, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gene DeVilder was born in Brooklyn, Iowa to Bruno
6and Clara DeVolder DeVilder on July 27, 1929; he married Nancy
7A. Brandt Allen in East Moline on January 1, 1977; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Gene DeVilder was a veteran of the Korean War; he
9also served in the Illinois National Guard and retired as a
10Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserves; he
11worked for John Deere for 38 years and retired in 1984; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Gene DeVilder enjoyed traveling in his RV, playing
13golf, working on home renovation projects, and spending time
14with family and friends; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Gene DeVilder was preceded in death by his wife,
16Nancy; his son, Jeffery DeVilder; his stepson, William Allen;
17and his sisters, Irene Dopler and Bernice Porter; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gene DeVilder is survived by his daughters, Kathy
19Mabeus, Jill DeVilder, and Jeanine Cowen; his stepchildren,
20Bill and Delores Graham, Joan and Bob Pfeiffer, and Brad and

1Jody Allen; his grandchildren, Amy Weires, Sherry and Josh
2Marti, Jennifer and Bryan Atkins, Brad Allen Jr., Sheila
3Portela, Tennille Burton and Benjamin, Zachary, and Jacob
4Cowen-Whitman; and his many great-grandchildren and
5great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Eugene D. "Gene" DeVilder and extend our sincere condolences to
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Gene DeVilder as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
