SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Richard L. Paulsen of Moline, who passed
4away on May 1, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Richard Paulsen was born in Davenport, Iowa to
6Clifford and Hertha Paulsen on February 23, 1935; he graduated
7from Rock Island High School in 1953; he attended Augustana
8College; he served in the United States Army and the Army
9Reserves; he married Sieglinde Wegehaupt at Immanuel Lutheran
10Church in Rock Island on May 18, 1957; he was confirmed into
11the Lutheran faith in 1960; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Richard Paulsen went to work with his father at
13Paulsen Electric Co. in 1955; he started as a truck driver; he
14then completed an electrical apprenticeship, worked as a
15journeyman electrician, an estimator, and vice president;
16after his father's death, he became president of the company in
171981; after closing his business in 1994, he worked for Moline
18Electrical Supply Company, a division of Springfield Electric;
19he retired in 1999; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Richard Paulsen was a member of the International
21Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Quad Cities Chapter
22of the National Electrical Contractors Association; he served

1on the Electrical Commission for the City of Moline for ten
2years; after moving to Moline, he joined Holy Cross Lutheran
3Church, where he served on the Mutual Encouragement and
4Property Committees and as an elder; he enjoyed his vegetable
5garden, traveling, taking pictures, and spending time with his
6family; he was an avid fan of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes,
7the St. Louis Cardinals, and any team for which his family
8played or coached; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Richard Paulsen is survived by his wife of 61
10years, Sieglinde; his sons, Stephen and Scott Paulsen; and his
11daughter, Susan Paulsen; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Richard L. Paulsen and extend our sincere condolences to his
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Richard Paulsen as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
