2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Victor John Moeller of Elgin, formerly of |
4 | | Wonder Lake, who passed away on May 9, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Victor Moeller was born on January 7, 1937; and
|
6 | | WHEREAS, Victor Moeller spent 14 years as a Christian |
7 | | Brother, having taught at Christian Brothers College in |
8 | | Memphis; he later married Patricia and was employed by the |
9 | | Great Books Foundation, where he taught techniques of the |
10 | | Socratic Method and Shared Inquiry; for many years, he taught |
11 | | English at St. Jacobs High School; he retired from full-time |
12 | | teaching in 2003; and

13 | | WHEREAS, Victor Moeller wrote and co-authored several |
14 | | books on teaching and curriculum, including College Socratic |
15 | | Seminars, Intro to College Philosophy, College Rhetoric: What |
16 | | Every Student Needs to Know, Shakespeare Seminar and Film |
17 | | Series I and II, Literature Circles that Engage, and Socratic |
18 | | Seminars in Middle School Texts and Films That Engage Students |
19 | | in Reflective Thinking and Close Reading; in addition to |
20 | | writing, he taught English part-time at McHenry County College |
21 | | and led book club discussions in Elgin; and
