SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dr. Daniel Bever Crane of Danville, who
4passed away on May 28, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Daniel Crane was born in Chicago to Dr. George W.
6and Cora Ellen (Miller) Crane on January 10, 1936; he graduated
7from South Shore High School; he received his bachelor of arts
8degree from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan; he later
9received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana
10University; he married Judy Ann VanBrunt in Hillsboro, Indiana
11on June 13, 1970; and
 
12    WHEREAS, After graduation, Daniel Crane served as a captain
13in the United States Army during the Vietnam War; he was
14stationed in Southeast Asia; following his honorable
15discharge, he started a private dental practice in Danville and
16retired in 2011; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Daniel Crane was elected to the United States
18House of Representatives and served as a congressman for both
19the 19th and 22nd Districts from 1979 until 1985; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Daniel Crane was a member of the Hillsboro United
21Methodist Church and the American Legion Post 23 of Aurora,

1Colorado; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Daniel Crane was preceded in death by his wife,
3Judy; his parents; and his brothers, George Crane IV and Dr.
4Philip Crane; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Daniel Crane is survived by his children,
6Nathaniel (Tracy) Crane, Joshua (Maggie) Crane, Kimberly
7(Nikolaos Johnson) Crane, Elizabeth (Christopher) Gulugian,
8Emily (Tom) Makarewicz, and Heidi Crane; his granddaughters,
9Sophia Ellen and Willa Sage Makarewicz, Dylan Rose Gulugian,
10and Claire Louise Crane; his sister, Judith Ross; and his
11brother, Dr. David G. (Joanie) Crane; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Dr. Daniel Bever Crane and extend our sincere condolences to
15his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Daniel Crane as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
