| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Mary Pearl Hitchings of Litchfield, who |
| 4 | | passed away on June 23, 2019 at the age of 104; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Mary Hitchings was born in Raymond to Roman Sr. |
| 6 | | and Lena (Oberkfell) Herman at the family farm on July 23, |
| 7 | | 1914; she married Herschel F. Hitchings at the St. Raymond |
| 8 | | parsonage on May 14, 1933; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Mary Hitchings was a domestic housekeeper and |
| 10 | | cleaned the Raymond Post Office and library; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Mary Hitchings was affectionately known as |
| 12 | | "Auntie Pearl"; she helped raise numerous children and loved |
| 13 | | children in general; even though she was never a mother of her |
| 14 | | own, she was a mother to many; she was a member of St. |
| 15 | | Raymond's Catholic Church in Raymond and was active in the |
| 16 | | Altar and Rosary Society; she was the one and only Senior Queen |
| 17 | | of the Raymond 4th of July Celebration since 1986; she enjoyed |
| 18 | | playing and hosting card parties and quilting; she was an avid |
| 19 | | fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and raised chickens and sold |
| 20 | | eggs; she was a wonderful cook and was famous for her noodles |
| 21 | | and angel food cake; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Mary Hitchings was preceded in death by her |
| 2 | | parents; her husband, Herschel; her brothers, Roman Jr., |
| 3 | | Raymond, and Louis Herman; her sisters, Opal Wagahoff and May |
| 4 | | Herman; her niece, Rena Lou Herman; her nephews, Bob, Harold, |
| 5 | | and Kenny Wagahoff; her great-nephews, Dan and Joe Wagahoff; |
| 6 | | and her great-great-niece, Melinda Marten; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Mary Hitchings is survived by her nieces and |
| 8 | | nephews,
