2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Harry M. Sandoval of Silvis, who passed |
4 | | away on June 24, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Harry Sandoval was born in Silvis to Joseph and |
6 | | Carmen Morales Sandoval on January 16, 1926; he enlisted in the |
7 | | U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and proudly served aboard the USS |
8 | | Richard P. Leary during some of the most fierce naval victories |
9 | | of World War II, which included eight battles in the South |
10 | | Pacific (Saipan, Tinian, Peleliu, Philippines, Leyte Gulf, Iwo |
11 | | Jima, Okinawa, and Tokyo Bay) from 1944 to 1946; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Harry Sandoval worked for International Harvester |
13 | | for 41 years, retiring in 1988; he then worked as a driver for |
14 | | the Milan Auction for 22 years; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Harry Sandoval loved to tell the tales of his |
16 | | military experience; in 2009, he attended one of the first Quad |
17 | | City Honor Flights to Washington D.C., which he considered a |
18 | | highlight of his life; he loved spending time with his family |
19 | | and cooking and sharing the food he cooked with family and |
20 | | friends; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Harry Sandoval was preceded in death by his |

1 | | parents; his siblings, Peter and John Sandoval, Ruben (Ramona) |
2 | | Sandoval, William "Willie" Sandoval, Valencia Garcia, and |
3 | | Alfonse Sandoval; and his brother-in-law, Roy Guerrero; and
|
4 | | WHEREAS, Harry Sandoval is survived by his son, Harry David |
5 | | (Paula) Sandoval; his granddaughters, Shauna (Todd) Fah and |
6 | | Amanda (Doug) Curless; his great-granddaughters, Madisyn, |
7 | | Bailey, and Allisyn Fah, Aubrey Osborne, and Lily Curless; his |
8 | | siblings, Rufina Guerrero, Oscar (Sally) Sandoval, Charlie |
9 | | (Ruby) Sandoval, Mary (Phillip) Garza, Joseph "Moe" (Rita) |
10 | | Sandoval, and Fred (Pauline) Sandoval; his companion of 41 |
11 | | years, Carol "Bunnie" Lawrence; and many nieces, nephews, |
12 | | great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it

13 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
14 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
15 | | Harry M. Sandoval and extend our sincere condolences to his |
16 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
17 | | further

18 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
19 | | presented to the family of Harry Sandoval as an expression of |
20 | | our deepest sympathy.
