SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Nelson Gene Peterson of Moline, who 
4passed away on June 24, 2019; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Nelson Peterson was born in Moline to Rudolph T. 
6and Nellie (Nelson) Peterson on August 20, 1923; he graduated 
7from Simpson College and served in the U.S. Army during World 
8War II in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central 
9Europe, earning several medals; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Nelson Peterson worked as  a history teacher at 
11Silvis Junior High School for 25 years, retiring in 1983; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Nelson Peterson was a member of Bethany Baptist 
13Church, the National Education Association, and the Modern 
14Woodmen of America; and
  
 
  
15    WHEREAS, Nelson Peterson is survived by his cousins, Sylvia 
16Maravelli, Kaye Strate, Susan Coopman, and Todd Nerdahl; 
17therefore, be it
  
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
20Nelson Gene Peterson and extend our sincere condolences to his

1family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it

3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
4presented to  the family of  Nelson Peterson as an expression of
