|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Edward Allen Rust of Bunker Hill, who |
4 | | passed away on July 14, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Edward Rust was born to Albert and Emma (Schaller) |
6 | | Rust on the Rust Family Farm just south of Bunker Hill on |
7 | | January 28, 1925; he married Lena W. Bertels at Emmaus Lutheran |
8 | | Church in Dorsey on August 24, 1947; he and Lena raised their |
9 | | family on the family farm, which became a Centennial Farm in |
10 | | 1985; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Edward Rust was a farmer for many years; he also |
12 | | sold insurance; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Edward Rust had a strong faith and was a lifelong |
14 | | member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bunker Hill, where he served |
15 | | in nearly every capacity, including as a Sunday school teacher |
16 | | and as a favorite tractor driver for youth group hayrides; he |
17 | | served as Bunker Hill Township Supervisor in the 1950s and as a |
18 | | Precinct Committeeman; he was a member of the Bunker Hill |
19 | | Kiwanis Club for over 30 years and enjoyed helping with the |
20 | | Christmas tree sales, selling peanuts, and providing hospital |
21 | | equipment to anyone in need; he regularly donated blood to the |
22 | | Red Cross; in 2012, he was honored to be named the Grand Parade |

1 | | Marshal for the Bunker Hill 4th of July parade; he was active |
2 | | and enjoyed sports, especially dartball, bowling, and, after |
3 | | retirement, golf; he loved his faith, his family, and his |
4 | | country; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Edward Rust was preceded in death by his parents; |
6 | | his wife, Lena; his brothers, Richard Rust and Albert Rust; and |
7 | | his sisters, Edith Rust and Audrey Lesemann; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Edward Rust is survived by his son, Kevin E. |
9 | | (Karen) Rust; his daughter, Teresa (Donald) Hancock; his |
10 | | grandchildren, Brandyn Rust and Gretchen (David) McGinley; his |
11 | | great-grandchildren, Malachi, Raelynn, and Romy McGinley; his |
12 | | brother, Dale (Luella) Rust; his sisters, Marilyn Bertels and |
13 | | Corleen Heuer; his brother-in-law, Charles (Norma) Bertels; |
14 | | his sister-in-law, Doris Rust; and many nieces, nephews, and |
15 | | cousins; therefore, be it

16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
18 | | Edward Allen Rust and extend our sincere condolences to his |
19 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
20 | | further
