SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Terry F. "Big T" Mahan of East Moline, who passed away on July 29, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Terry Mahan was born in Chicago to Charles and Thelma (Fair) Mahan on February 25, 1942; he graduated from United Township High School in 1960, where he set a record in the 440 relay in 1958; he served in the U.S. Army and married Theresa Vallejo in Rock Island in 1970; and

WHEREAS, Terry Mahan worked for John Deere Harvester as an assembler, retiring in 1997; he was a personal trainer at the John Deere Fitness Center for 20 years; and

WHEREAS, Terry Mahan mentored many people through AA sponsorship and was set to receive his 39th year chip on August 7, 2019; he was a fitness enthusiast; he coached his children and grandchildren in baseball, softball, football, and track; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Iowa Hawkeyes; he never knew a stranger and was a friend to everyone; and

WHEREAS, Terry Mahan was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Theresa; and

WHEREAS, Terry Mahan is survived by his children, Terri Phillips, Lisa (Pat) Kinnee, Scott (Tippi) Mahan, Leigh Ann (Rick) Breer, and Jeffrey (Hope) Mahan; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; his sister, Cathy Farley; his brother, Michael Mahan; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends who were like family to him; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Terry F. "Big T" Mahan and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Terry Mahan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
