| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Gale Blake Fengel of Canton, who passed |
| 4 | | away on August 11, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Blake Fengel was born in Canton to Gale E. and |
| 6 | | Frances (Spenny) Fengel on September 19, 1927; he served in the |
| 7 | | U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and was at |
| 8 | | the first test of the atomic bomb on the Bikini Islands; he |
| 9 | | earned the American Campaign World War II Medal and the |
| 10 | | Atlantic Pacific Campaign Medal; he married Lorraine M. Walsh |
| 11 | | in Canton on June 12, 1954; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Blake Fengel worked as an electrician at |
| 13 | | International Harvester for 30 years; he also worked 10 years |
| 14 | | in the construction field and farmed with his brothers; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Blake Fengel was a member of the International |
| 16 | | Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 68 years; he was also a |
| 17 | | member of Bartonville American Legion Post 979, Canton VFW Post |
| 18 | | 1984, the Illinois Retrievers Hunting Club, the American Kennel |
| 19 | | Club, and the Hunting Retrievers 1000 Club; his dog, Northern |
| 20 | | Exposure's Hershey, earned a Master Hunter certificate; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Blake Fengel was preceded in death by his wife, |
