|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Jeffrey G. "Jeff" Bland of Springfield, |
4 | | who passed away on August 10, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Bland was born in Chicago to Edward and Alma |
6 | | Bland on November 25, 1957; he graduated from Southeast High |
7 | | School and attended Lincoln Land Community College; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Bland was employed at the Northfolk and |
9 | | Western Railroad and the Commonwealth Edison Power Plant; he |
10 | | worked as a security guard for the State of Illinois; he |
11 | | retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation in 2007, |
12 | | where he worked as a highway maintainer; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Bland was an active member of the community; |
14 | | he served as a precinct committeeman and as a member of the |
15 | | Democratic Minority Caucus; he was a deputized registrar for |
16 | | Sangamon County and the treasurer of the Ernie Bankhead |
17 | | Neighborhood Association; he also served as the chairman of the |
18 | | Political Action Committee for the Faith Coalition for the |
19 | | Common Good; he was a member of the Protective Order of Elks of |
20 | | the World, Inc. and a Teamster of Local 916 of Springfield; and
|
21 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Bland committed to his faith on May 8, 2008; |

1 | | he was an active member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, |
2 | | where he served as a trustee and a mentor to the youth |
3 | | ministry; his greatest joy was working with young members of |
4 | | the church; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Bland was preceded in death by his parents; |
6 | | and
|
7 | | WHEREAS, Jeff Bland is survived by his daughter, Jasmine |
8 | | Bland; his grandchildren, Essence, Emmorie, Jeffrey, and |
9 | | Yessiah Bland; his sister, Linda (Don) Williams; many other |
10 | | family members and friends, including Mr. and Mrs. Cox, Mr. and |
11 | | Mrs. Williamson, Mr. and Mrs. Ewing, Mr. and Mrs. Turner, |
12 | | Ernest Holman, Glenn Weir, and Rodney Myles; and EdWinicia |
13 | | (Leonard) Townsend, Edward Ray, Michael, and Chris Roseberry, |
14 | | and Kathy Baxter and family; therefore, be it
|
15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
17 | | Jeffrey G. "Jeff" Bland and extend our sincere condolences to |
18 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
19 | | further

20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
21 | | presented to the family of Jeff Bland as an expression of our |
22 | | deepest sympathy.
