SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Robert L. "Bob" DeSmet of East Moline, 
4who passed away on August 17, 2019; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Bob DeSmet was born in Moline to Frank and Mary 
6(Maddelein) DeSmet on December 5, 1937; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Bob DeSmet worked for the Rock Island Lines and 
8the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad; he retired from 
9Rock Island Farmall in 2003; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Bob DeSmet enjoyed bowling, boating, playing 
11cards, gardening, listening to the "oldies," and following the 
12extra curricular activities of his family; he will be 
13remembered for his sweet tooth;  and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Bob DeSmet was preceded in death by his parents; 
15his son, Rock Anthony DeSmet; his grandchildren, Luke Patrick, 
16Jonathan Heiar, and Matt Russell; and his siblings, Joyce 
17DeSmet and Richard DeSmet; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Bob DeSmet is survived by his children, Richard 
19DeSmet, Daniel (Cami) DeSmet, Theresa Patrick, Annette DeSmet, 
20and Robin (Daniel) Heiar; his brother, Ron (Theresa) DeSmet;

1his sister-in-law, Betty DeSmet; his 13 grandchildren; and 
2several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; 
3therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
6Robert L. "Bob" DeSmet and extend our sincere condolences to 
7his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
8further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Bob DeSmet as an expression of our 
11deepest sympathy.
