| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Scott E. Lawrence of East Moline, who |
| 4 | | passed away on September 21, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Scott Lawrence was born in Hollywood, California |
| 6 | | to Earl and Peggy Lawrence on June 4, 1966; he attended school |
| 7 | | in Upland, California and graduated from Upland High School in |
| 8 | | 1984; in 1990, he joined the United States Army and served in |
| 9 | | the Gulf War; upon his return to the United States, he settled |
| 10 | | in the Midwest; in 2001, he began his education journey; along |
| 11 | | the way, he married Annette Brauer and became a father of two; |
| 12 | | he received his Doctor of Education from Grand Canyon |
| 13 | | University in 2016; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Scott Lawrence was a professor at Eastern Iowa |
| 15 | | Community College, Black Hawk Community College, and Brown |
| 16 | | Mackie University; teaching was his passion, and he cherished |
| 17 | | the friendships with his peers and his students; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Scott Lawrence's commitment to his faith was heard |
| 19 | | in the music he played and the songs he wrote; he played with |
| 20 | | the contemporary Christian band, Janitors Heart, and the |
| 21 | | bluegrass group, Country Christians; he was an avid fan of the |
| 22 | | Beatles; and
