| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Cynthia Ann "Cindy G" (Schuler) Gavilsky, |
| 4 | | who passed away on July 11, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Cynthia Gavilsky was born and raised in Granite |
| 6 | | City; she earned her first master's degree in alternative and |
| 7 | | special education from Western Illinois University; she later |
| 8 | | earned two additional master's degrees in counseling and |
| 9 | | education administration; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Cynthia Gavilsky worked at Coordinated Youth & |
| 11 | | Human Services, where she dedicated 34 years and served as |
| 12 | | executive director; she was instrumental in establishing the |
| 13 | | Billie's Kids Christmas celebration for families in need; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Cynthia Gavilsky gave back to her community by |
| 15 | | serving on countless committees and boards, including the |
| 16 | | Rotary Club, where she was an active member and served as past |
| 17 | | president; she was also a board member of the Granite City Area |
| 18 | | Community Foundation, the Granite City Hall of Fame Committee, |
| 19 | | the Madison-Bond Workforce Innovation Board, and numerous |
| 20 | | others; she was a proud Catholic and loved praying the rosary |
| 21 | | daily; as a leader in her community, she always found ways to |
| 22 | | positively impact and improve the lives of those around her; |
