| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Gerald Dean Augsburger of Normal, who |
| 4 | | passed away on October 3, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dean Augsburger was born in Flanagan to Elmer and |
| 6 | | Mabel Yordy Augsburger on September 16, 1921; he served in the |
| 7 | | U.S. Army during World War II in Europe and spent three |
| 8 | | consecutive birthdays far from home; at the end of the war, he |
| 9 | | was stationed near his family's ancestral home in Germany; he |
| 10 | | married Mary Etta Campbell in Pontiac on May 21, 1949; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Dean Augsburger owned his own plumbing business in |
| 12 | | Flanagan until the early 1970s, when he moved to |
| 13 | | Bloomington-Normal and partnered with his brother Joseph at |
| 14 | | Augsburger Plumbing; he continued to work in the plumbing trade |
| 15 | | until his late 80s; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Dean Augsburger's outside interests included golf |
| 17 | | and following the Chicago Bears; he doted on his grandchildren |
| 18 | | and spent countless hours with them; he was proud to be an |
| 19 | | American and flew the U.S. flag wherever he lived; he was a |
| 20 | | member of First United Methodist Church in Normal and several |
| 21 | | fraternal and service organizations during his years in |
| 22 | | Flanagan; and
