|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Rev. Peggie D. Senor of Springfield, who |
4 | | passed away on October 17, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Senor was born in Springfield to George and |
6 | | Virginia Neal on February 3, 1934; she graduated from Feitshans |
7 | | High School in Springfield in 1950 and married Clarence Lester |
8 | | Senor on January 2, 1951; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Senor was a stay-at-home mom with seven |
10 | | children and worked for Scott Catering, serving at parties; she |
11 | | was a data entry operator at Stat Tab and was then employed by |
12 | | Security Federal, retiring after 27 years; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Senor's community involvement included many |
14 | | PTOs, the Washington Street Mission, the Lincoln Library Board, |
15 | | and serving as Chaplain at the Sangamon County Juvenile |
16 | | Detention Center; and |
17 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Senor was a member of St. John African |
18 | | Methodist Episcopal Church; she served as Superintendent of |
19 | | Sunday School at St. John A.M.E. Church; she became an ordained |
20 | | Local Elder in the A.M.E. Church, served as pastor of Allen |
21 | | Chapel A.M.E. Church in Lincoln, and taught Wednesday noon |

1 | | Bible study at St. John A.M.E. and Monday night Bible study; |
2 | | she started the Sunday 8am worship service; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Senor had a passion for creating poetry, art, |
4 | | and paper dolls; in her later years, she would create a |
5 | | computer-generated card for each child, grandchild, and |
6 | | great-grandchild, which included one of her special personally |
7 | | written poems; and |
8 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Senor was affectionately known as Rev. |
9 | | Peggie, Big Peggie, Grandma, and Mama; her front porch and |
10 | | dining rooms were special places for her large family and |
11 | | friends; often in the 1960s, she and other neighborhood |
12 | | families could be seen roller skating at Iles School Gym on |
13 | | Monday evenings in the summers; she was a Falcon Drum and Bugle |
14 | | Corps Mom, sewing, cooking, and preparing for competition; her |
15 | | favorite passion was finding treasures at Goodwill and The |
16 | | Salvation Army; and
|
17 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Senor was preceded in death by her husband of |
18 | | 59 years, Clarence, and her sister, Eleanor Chandler; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Rev. Senor is survived by her children, Deborah |
20 | | (Dave) Burns, L. Kevin (Linda) Senor, Candice (John) Trees, C. |
21 | | Neal Senor, Patricia (Donald) Carter, Herman (Valeria) Senor, |
22 | | and Mark Senor; her step-daughter, Mary E. (Freddie, deceased) |

1 | | Nunn; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; numerous |
2 | | nieces, nephews, and cousins; her sister-in-law, Betty Lou |

5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
7 | | Rev. Peggie D. Senor and extend our sincere condolences to her |
8 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
9 | | further

10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
11 | | presented to the family of Rev. Senor as an expression of our |
12 | | deepest sympathy.
