SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of L. Milton McClure of Springfield, who
4passed away on July 12, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Milton McClure was born in Chicago to Lloyd Milton
6and Margaret Steadman McClure on August 23, 1941; he graduated
7from Beardstown High School in 1959, from the University of
8Illinois with a degree in accountancy, and from the University
9of Illinois College of Law; he was a member of the Sigma Chi
10Fraternity and was named a Significant Sig in 2012; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Milton McClure worked as a CPA for the Arthur
12Anderson Accounting Firm in Chicago before he was called into
13service in the U.S. Army; he served in Vietnam, earning a
14Bronze Star; he then returned to Beardstown, where he joined
15the family law firm and practiced law for 45 years, retiring in
162014; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Milton McClure was a member of Cass Lodge #23 A.F. &
18 A.M. in Beardstown, serving as Master of the Lodge in 1983,
19the ANSAR Shrine, serving as Potentate in 2000, and the Royal
20Order of Jesters; he was a member of the First United Methodist
21Church in Beardstown and an associate member of the First
22United Methodist Church in Springfield; he was a certified lay

1speaker for the United Methodist Church; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Milton McClure was preceded in death by his
3parents and his son, L. Matthew McClure; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Milton McClure is survived by his wife of 42
5years, Suzanne (Monts) McClure; his children, Merredith (Alan)
6Dodds, Lloyd M. "Trey" (Dhey) McClure, and Kelly (Eric) Grady;
7his grandchildren, Benjamin Dodds, Caroline Dodds, and Carlee
8and Camryn Grady; his brother, George S. (Wyllia) McClure; and
9several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12L. Milton McClure and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Milton McClure as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
