| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Robert Earl "Bobby" Washington, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on October 17, 2019; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Robert Washington was born in rural Yazoo County, | ||||||
| 6 | Mississippi to Louise Washington Abshaw on June 16, 1944; he | ||||||
| 7 | married Evelyn Woodard Townes; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, In 1967, Robert Washington's passion for | ||||||
| 9 | restoring old cars became full-time employment when he opened | ||||||
| 10 | his first
auto shop, Southwest Auto, in Chicago; he later | ||||||
| 11 | opened another repair shop, Fair Deal Auto,
and ran the shop | ||||||
| 12 | until he went to work for Target in 2009; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Robert Washington was baptized at St. Paul M.B. | ||||||
| 14 | Church in Bentoma, Mississippi; after relocating to
Chicago, he | ||||||
| 15 | joined Green Grove M.B. Church, which he attended faithfully | ||||||
| 16 | for over 40 years before leaving; he fell ill before he could | ||||||
| 17 | join a new congregation; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Robert Washington was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 19 | son, Jerome Washington; his mother, Louise Abshaw; his | ||||||
| 20 | stepfather, Daddy Cary; his
biological father, Frank Vaugh; his | ||||||
| 21 | brothers, James Jones, George Washington Jr., and Wade Vaugh; | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | and
his sisters, Betty Brown and Maybell Powers; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Robert Washington is survived by his wife, Evelyn | ||||||
| 3 | Marie; his son, Nicklous Terell Washington; his daughters,
| ||||||
| 4 | Tiffney Renee Washington, Robin Washington, and Barbara Berry; | ||||||
| 5 | his grandchildren, Kenneth, Nicklous, and
Angelese Washington; | ||||||
| 6 | his sisters, Jeania Gary, Gloria (Willie) Wynn, and Bettie J. | ||||||
| 7 | Vaughan; his
sisters-in-law, Odessa Jones, Rudene Abshaw, | ||||||
| 8 | Wendelin Woodard, Rosa Miller, and Beverly Johnson; his | ||||||
| 9 | extended siblings, Bobby Sam Wilkerson, Frankie (Ned) Rushing, | ||||||
| 10 | Mattie Bell, and Willie Barry; his aunts, Clara Davis and Sybil | ||||||
| 11 | Harris; his caretaker, Margaret Gilbert; and numerous nephews, | ||||||
| 12 | nieces, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
| 14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 15 | Robert Earl "Bobby" Washington and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 16 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 17 | him; and be it further

| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of Robert Washington as an expression | ||||||
