2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Charles E. "Chuck" Brown of Peoria, who |
4 | | passed away on October 3, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Brown was born in Queens, New York to |
6 | | Charles Edward and Anne (Habel) Brown on April 1, 1924; he |
7 | | served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the South Pacific with the |
8 | | 4th Marine Division, C Company, where he was wounded at Saipan |
9 | | and Iwo Jima; he was awarded a Purple Heart and a Gold Star; he |
10 | | was honorably discharged in 1945 and married Eleanor Lee |
11 | | Riggins in Peoria on August 4, 1945; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Brown and his brother, Bob, started Chuck |
13 | | Brown Builders in the Peoria area; he later became owner and |
14 | | operator of Sheridan Road Lumber in 1973, which he operated |
15 | | until his passing; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Brown was a member of the University United |
17 | | Methodist Church in Peoria, the Mohammed Temple Shrine, the |
18 | | Royal Order of Jesters, and Carpenter's Local 183; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Chuck Brown was preceded in death by his parents; |
20 | | his stepfather, Ed DeVore; and his brothers, George E. and |
21 | | Robert L. Brown; and
