SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Paul Quintin Rodgers of Moline, who passed away on October 30, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Paul Rodgers was born in Moline to Dwight Oliver and Evelyn Leanore Peterson Rodgers on July 30, 1948; during school, he was a gymnast, wrestler, and member of the marching band; he entered the U.S. Army in June of 1968 and completed his basic training at Ft. Gordon, Georgia; he served in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery; and

WHEREAS, Paul Rodgers was always thinking of others and would bring someone he had just met to the family Thanksgiving dinner, welcoming them when they had nowhere else to go; and

WHEREAS, Paul Rodgers lived a very adventurous life and was admired for his determination, independence, free spirited nature, and positive attitude; and

WHEREAS, Paul Rodgers was preceded in death by his brother, Guy Douglas Rodgers; his father, Dwight Oliver Rodgers; his mother, Evelyn Leanore Rodgers; his sister, Dorothy Eva Rodgers Sprung; his brother-in-law, Frank John Sprung; his sister-in-law, Carolyn Applebee Rodgers; and his best friend, Bill Farrell; and

WHEREAS, Paul Rodgers is survived by his sister, Jill Kay Rodgers Amoni; his brother, George Milton Rodgers (Anne Odermatt); and several nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors, particularly, Juli and Chris Zimmerman along with their children; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul Quintin Rodgers and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul Rodgers as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
