| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
|
| 3 | | learn of the death of Virginia M. Padesky of Moline, who passed |
| 4 | | away on January 8, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Virginia Padesky was born on May 23, 1928 in Rural |
| 6 | | Rock Island County to Edward and Mildred Sackville Schmidt; she |
| 7 | | graduated from Aledo High School and married James E. "Jake" |
| 8 | | Padesky on May 4, 1952 in Aledo; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, After graduating from the Moline Public Hospital |
| 10 | | School of Nursing, Virginia Padesky served as an Ensign in the |
| 11 | | U.S. Navy Nurse Corps during the Korean War; as an R.N., she |
| 12 | | worked as a school nurse in the Moline School District before |
| 13 | | retiring in 1984; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Virginia Padesky was a member of the Holy Cross |
| 15 | | Lutheran Church and was part of the Lutheran Women's Missionary |
| 16 | | League; she was also a member of American Legion Post 246, |
| 17 | | Moline, the Trinity Alumni Association, and the Trinity |
| 18 | | Auxiliary; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Virginia Padesky was preceded in death by her |
| 20 | | husband, James Padesky; granddaughter, Kathleen VandeMoortel; |
| 21 | | sisters, Kathleen DeSchepper, Eleanor Bigham, and Eileen |
|

| 1 | | Bivens; and brother, Vaughn Schmidt; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Virginia Padesky is survived by her children, Mark |
| 3 | | (Vicki) Padesky, Amy (Ron) McGill, Joseph (Melissa) Padesky, |
| 4 | | and Anne (Gary) VandeMoortel; grandchildren, Jacob (Liz) |
| 5 | | VandeMoortel, Greg (Jackie) Padesky, Abby (Jeff) Less, |
| 6 | | Christopher (Lauren) Padesky, Jeffrey (Stephanie) Padesky, |
| 7 | | Alex McGill, and Luke Padesky; great-grandchildren, Cohen, |
| 8 | | Sophia, Elise, Mae, Everett, Gabriel, Samuel, Nora, Mila, |
| 9 | | Denali, and Austin; sisters, Genevieve Parchert and Judy Bieri; |
| 10 | | sister-in-law, Pauline Schmidt; and brother-in-law, Kenneth |
| 11 | | DeSchepper; therefore, be it

| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
| 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 14 | | Virginia M. Padesky and extend our sincere
condolences to her |
| 15 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved
