|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of J. David "Dave" Pepper, who passed away |
4 | | on December 28, 2019; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Dave Pepper was born in Evanston to Richard and |
6 | | Roxelyn Pepper on January 15, 1960; he graduated from Iowa |
7 | | State University with a degree in civil engineering; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Dave Pepper joined his family's business, the |
9 | | Pepper Construction Group, in 1985 as a field engineer and |
10 | | became CEO in 2003; he was a longtime supporter of green |
11 | | building strategies and oversaw hundreds of projects across the |
12 | | country each year, including many suburban landmarks; he helped |
13 | | guide the renovations at Wrigley Field in 2015; he lived his |
14 | | life in service to others and was widely known for his kindness |
15 | | and generosity; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, Dave Pepper was known as a champion of education |
17 | | and held multiple leadership roles, including president of the |
18 | | Associated General Contractors (AGC) Education and Research |
19 | | Foundation; he was involved in workforce readiness and school |
20 | | mentoring programs; he served on the Providence St. Mel School |
21 | | Board of Trustees, the Dominican University Board of Trustees, |
22 | | and the Junior Achievement of Chicago's Board of Directors and |

1 | | Executive Committee; he served as a management trustee to the |
2 | | Chicago Regional Council of Carpenters; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Dave Pepper's life centered around his family and |
4 | | friends; he enjoyed cooking, boating, and traveling and |
5 | | frequently said that being part of his family was the best |
6 | | leadership lesson of his life; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Dave Pepper was a member at St. Michael's |
8 | | Episcopal Church, the Economic Club of Chicago, The Chicago |
9 | | Club, the Max McGraw Wildlife Foundation, and the Commercial |
10 | | Club of Chicago; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Dave Pepper is survived by his wife, Katy; his |
12 | | children, Ali, Lauren, and Colin; his parents; his brothers, |
13 | | Stan, Dick, and Scot; his sisters, Lynda and Lisa; and numerous |
14 | | nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives; therefore, be it
|
15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
17 | | J. David "Dave" Pepper and extend our sincere condolences to |
18 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
19 | | further

20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
21 | | presented to the family of Dave Pepper as an expression of our |
