2 | | WHEREAS, Marvin E. Perzee devoted 54 years of his life in |
3 | | service to the Iroquois County Fair and the larger county fair |
4 | | community of Illinois; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee joined the Iroquois County |
6 | | Agricultural & 4-H Fairs Association in 1965 at the age of 22, |
7 | | serving as president beginning in 1973 and vice president in |
8 | | 2019; he was instrumental in advocating for issues affecting |
9 | | farmers and agriculture and developed an unrivaled knowledge of |
10 | | the inner workings of the Iroquois County Fair; and |
11 | | WHEREAS, Beginning in 1979, Marvin Perzee was a member of |
12 | | the legislative committee for the Illinois Association
of |
13 | | Agricultural Fairs and served as its chairman for 40 years; |
14 | | also beginning in 1979, he served
as vice president of the |
15 | | Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs Association's |
16 | | Northern District, and from 1982 to 1983, he served as |
17 | | president; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, From 1983-1984, Marvin Perzee was a member of the |
19 | | advisory board for the
Division of Fairs and Horse Racing; from |
20 | | 1984 to 1989, he was director of the Illinois Association of
|
21 | | Agricultural Fairs; in 1984, he was the recipient of the |
22 | | Department of Agriculture's Fairman of the Year Award; from
|
|

1 | | 1990 to 1998, he was appointed to the State Fair Advisory |
2 | | Board; from 1990 to 1991, he was president
of the Illinois |
3 | | Association of Agricultural Fairs; from 1992 to 1996, he was |
4 | | director-at-large of the
Illinois Association of Agricultural |
5 | | Fairs; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee led the Ashkum Chargers 4-H Club, |
7 | | starting in 1965; he served on the Iroquois County Extension |
8 | | Council from 1971 to 1981; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee even met his wife, Sharon, while she |
10 | | was working with county fairs throughout the State; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Marvin Perzee was a farmer first; he received the |
12 | | American Farmer Degree from the FFA in 1963; in 1973, he |
13 | | received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award from the Illinois |
14 | | Jaycees; in 1999, he received Prairie Farmer's Master Farmer |
15 | | Award; from 1999 to 2003, he was appointed
to Attorney General |
16 | | Jim Ryan's advisory board; in 2005, he received the Watseka |
17 | | Times-Republic's
Lifetime Achievement Award; in 2006, he and |
18 | | Sharon received the Kankakee Daily Journal's Farm
Family of the |
19 | | Year Award; in 2007, he was inducted into the University of |
20 | | Illinois' 4-H Hall of
Fame; therefore, be it
