| 2 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois Senate is saddened to learn of the |
| 3 | | death of George William "Bill" Barton, who passed on January |
| 4 | | 13, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bill Barton was born to George and Mildred |
| 6 | | (Samples) Barton in Irondale, Missouri on March 25, 1932; he |
| 7 | | was a graduate of the University of Tennessee school of |
| 8 | | engineering, and his professional career stretched over 50 |
| 9 | | years, including a tour in the U.S. Army and pioneering work |
| 10 | | for the American space program; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Bill Barton was known for his singular wit and |
| 12 | | always had a profound comment to make with perfect comedic |
| 13 | | timing; he was an avid sportsman, hunter, and conservationist; |
| 14 | | and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, The only thing Bill Barton loved more than the |
| 16 | | outdoors was his family; he frequented his grandchildren's |
| 17 | | sporting events and field trips whenever possible; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Bill Barton was preceded in death by his wife, |
| 19 | | Barbara (Clark) Barton; his infant son, John Barton; his |
| 20 | | parents, George and Mildred (Samples) Barton; his sisters, Mary |
| 21 | | Elizabeth Tipton and Patricia Kasson; his brother, Jack Barton; |
