| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Wyllene Francis Abram, who passed away on |
| 4 | | February 17, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Wyllene Abram was born in Goss, Mississippi to |
| 6 | | Nardwell and Flora Toney on February 16, 1931, the second of |
| 7 | | nine siblings; at an early age, she gained a special father in |
| 8 | | Bishop Louis J. Francis; she graduated from Gulfport High |
| 9 | | School in Gulfport, Mississippi in 1949; she later received her |
| 10 | | cosmetology license; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Wyllene Abram began working as a mail handler at |
| 12 | | the U.S. Postal Service in the early 1960s; she later retired |
| 13 | | in 1986; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Wyllene Abram committed to her faith at an early |
| 15 | | age and nurtured that commitment in her children; her favorite |
| 16 | | book in the Bible was Proverbs; she was known as an exceptional |
| 17 | | cook who would freely feed anyone who came into her home; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Wyllene Abram was preceded in death by her |
| 19 | | parents, Nardwell Toney, Bishop Louis J. Francis, and Flora |
| 20 | | Francis; her sons, Mayfield Abram Jr. and Ralph Lockett; her |
| 21 | | daughters, Annette King and Melva Wiley; her brothers, Henry |
