SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph "Joe" A. Castro of Moline, who passed away on April 7, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Joe Castro was born to Joseph A. and Jessie (Delgado) Castro in Bettendorf, Iowa on November 1, 1934; he married Carmen R. Morales in Moline on October 22, 1957; and

WHEREAS, Joe Castro was a U.S. Army veteran; he worked at Western-Southern Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1990 after 30 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Joe Castro was a member of American Legion Post 227, East Moline; he enjoyed weight lifting, volleyball, golfing, serving in the Honor Guard, playing his harmonica, and listening to Mexican music; he was an avid Chicago sports fan and was overjoyed to see his Cubs win the World Series in 2016; and

WHEREAS, Joe Castro was a good man; he was kind and caring and was loved and respected by many, especially his children; he was very firm in his faith and beliefs and loved his children and family; and

WHEREAS, Joe Castro was preceded in death by his daughter, Andrea; his sisters, Mary Ellen Ortiz, Lupe Herrera, and Charlotte Castro; and his brothers, David Castro, Pete Castro, and Richard Castro; and

WHEREAS, Joe Castro is survived by his wife, Carmen; his children, Bob (Julianna) Castro, Jon (Krista) Castro, and Lisa (Lance) Van Fossen; his sisters, Irma Ahlgren and Ernestine Ortiz; his brother, Paul (Sue) Castro, his 11 grandchildren; and his 13 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joseph A. Castro and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joe Castro as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
