SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Harry C. Muffley of Rock Island, who 
4passed away on March 2, 2020; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Harry Muffley was born in Urbana to Elvay and 
6Bertha Muffley  on December 2, 1921; he served in the U.S. Navy 
7during World War II and was cited for bravery and courage; he  
8married Barbara J. Barger in 1971; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Harry Muffley worked for the Department of Defense 
10as a research chemist for 32 years; he retired in 1980; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Harry Muffley was a member of the American 
12Chemical Society, The American Society of Lubrication 
13Engineers, South Park Presbyterian Church in Rock Island, and 
14the American Legion Post 246 in Moline; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Harry Muffley was preceded in death by his 
16parents; his sister, Ruth Borop; and his brother-in-law, Jim 
17Borop; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Harry Muffley is survived by his wife, Barbara 
19Muffley; his stepchildren, Linda (Don) Hildebrand, Nancy 
20(William), and Brian (Kate Cahill) Barger; his five

1grandchildren; his 11 great-grandchildren; and his nieces, 
2Nancy and Miriam Borop; therefore, be it
  
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL 
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

5Harry C. Muffley and extend our sincere
condolences to his 
6family, friends, and all who knew and loved
him; and be it 
7further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

9presented to the family of Harry Muffley as an expression of

10our deepest sympathy.
