SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Clarence "Leroy" Kelley of Colona, who passed away on March 9, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Kelley was born in Geneseo to Clarence W. and Pearl V. Stephenson Kelley on January 10, 1943; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era; he married Susan C. "Sue" Miller in Aledo on August 3, 1964; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Kelley served as a police officer in Green Rock; he then served as a public works director in Green Rock for over 20 years; he retired in 1999; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Kelley enjoyed hanging out in his garage, building and remodeling homes for family and friends, boating, being on the Rock River, being at "The Camp" with his family and friends, shooting at the family range, and listening to ZZ Top and Styx; he especially loved spending time with his children, his grandchildren, and all of his four-legged friends; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Kelley was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, John and Steve Kelley; and his great friend, Mike Hergert; and

WHEREAS, Leroy Kelley is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sue; his children, Carol (JC) Griffin, James Kelley, Crystal (Mark) Kelley Erickson, and Brandy Kelley; his grandchildren, Nichole, Stormi, Dakota, Landon, Torie, Dallas, and Brandyn; his seven great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Charlie Kelley, Marge VanKlavern, Tom Kelley, and Marlene Ong; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Clarence "Leroy" Kelley and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leroy Kelley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
