| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Charles "Charlie" Paul Hoback of |
| 4 | | Bloomington, who passed away on April 27, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Charlie Hoback was born to John and Pauline Hoback |
| 6 | | in Lerna on March 2, 1943; he joined the U.S. Navy in 1960 and |
| 7 | | proudly served his country throughout the South Pacific as a |
| 8 | | radar operator and ship's photographer on the USS Ashtabula; |
| 9 | | Charlie married Linda Buttry (Roberts) in 1966; he later |
| 10 | | married Cheryl Stahly; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, After the military, Charlie Hoback worked as an |
| 12 | | electrician in the Bloomington-Normal area; he retired as an |
| 13 | | electrician from Illinois State University in 2002; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Charlie was active with VFW Post 454 in |
| 15 | | Bloomington, including serving as Treasurer and Commander; he |
| 16 | | was also a member of the IBEW union, Bloomington Masonic Lodge |
| 17 | | 43, and Valley Of Bloomington Scottish Rite; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Charlie Hoback enjoyed restoring classic |
| 19 | | vehicles, including 1937 and 1957 Chevrolet sedans and a 1939 |
| 20 | | Chevy pickup truck; he was a true handyman, as he could build |
| 21 | | or fix just about anything; during his retirement, he also |
