| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of James A. "Jim" Doerfler, who passed away |
| 4 | | on April 17, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Doerfler was born in Springfield to Fred W. |
| 6 | | and Pauline C. (Schmelter) Doerfler on July 25, 1929; he served |
| 7 | | in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and married Rita R. |
| 8 | | Patton in Springfield in 1952; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Jim Doerfler was a professional engineer in |
| 10 | | Illinois and a registered land surveyor in Illinois, Missouri, |
| 11 | | Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Kentucky; he retired |
| 12 | | from the engineering consulting firm of Crawford, Murphy and |
| 13 | | Tilly in January of 1991; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Jim Doerfler was a member of the National Society |
| 15 | | of Professional Engineers Illinois, the Illinois Society of |
| 16 | | Professional Engineers, the Missouri Association of Registered |
| 17 | | Land Surveyors, the American Congress on Survey and Mapping, |
| 18 | | the American Arbitration Associations, the International Right |
| 19 | | of Way Association, and the Knights of Columbus; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Jim Doerfler was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 21 | | his brothers, Robert, Gene, and George Doerfler; and his |
