| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of David Stanley Anderson of Jonesboro, |
| 4 | | Arkansas, who passed away on March 18, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, David Anderson was born to Stanley and Mildred |
| 6 | | Tenold Anderson in Fertile, Iowa on September 26, 1937; he grew |
| 7 | | up in Joice, Iowa on the family farm, where he cultivated a |
| 8 | | lifelong love of animals; he graduated from the University of |
| 9 | | Iowa in 1961 and worked in the Iowa City Parks and Recreation |
| 10 | | Department before moving his family to Normal, Illinois for the |
| 11 | | same position in 1965; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, In 1970, David Anderson was hired by the Town of |
| 13 | | Normal to become its first city manager; his many |
| 14 | | accomplishments in this role include the construction of the |
| 15 | | City Hall offices (now the annex) and city fire stations, the |
| 16 | | completion of the Constitution Trail, the Ironwood Golf Course |
| 17 | | and Subdivision, and the College Hills Mall, the redevelopment |
| 18 | | of 1 Normal Plaza, and the moving of Amtrak's station from |
| 19 | | Bloomington to Normal; he was also proud to have been involved |
| 20 | | in securing the Mitsubishi automotive plant in Normal; after 29 |
| 21 | | years of service, David retired in 1998; upon retirement, Ash |
| 22 | | City Park in Normal was renamed Anderson Park to honor David's |
| 23 | | accomplishments; and
