| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Everett Earl Ledbetter of Springfield, |
| 4 | | formerly of Sparta, who passed away on March 16, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Everett Ledbetter was born in Sparta to Katherine |
| 6 | | (Saal) and Lewis Ledbetter on August 12, 1924; he served in the |
| 7 | | U.S. Third Army, 76th Infantry during WWII, where he fought in |
| 8 | | Belgium at the Battle of the Bulge and Bastogne; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Everett Ledbetter worked at World Color Press in |
| 10 | | Sparta; he moved to Springfield to work at the Journal Star in |
| 11 | | Peoria around 1959; he later worked at the Springfield |
| 12 | | Journal-Register; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Everett Ledbetter will be remembered as a devoted |
| 14 | | husband, father, and grandfather; he was a member of the |
| 15 | | Springfield Southern Baptist Church; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Everett Ledbetter was preceded in death by his |
| 17 | | first wife, Reba Scott Ledbetter; his second wife, Dorothy |
| 18 | | Millner Bush Ledbetter; his son, Nolan Ledbetter; his |
| 19 | | daughter-in-law, Kay Ledbetter; his brother, Bill Ledbetter; |
| 20 | | his sisters, Mildred McIntyre, Edith Howie, and Edna Baily; and |
| 21 | | his parents; and
