| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Robert Chase "Bob" McAllister, formerly |
| 4 | | of Danvers, who passed away on April 12, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob McAllister was born in Galesburg to John |
| 6 | | Howard and Marie A. Smith McAllister on March 23, 1936; he |
| 7 | | graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1954; he earned a |
| 8 | | Bachelor of Arts from Knox College in 1958 and a Master of Arts |
| 9 | | in 1960; he worked as a research associate at Northwestern |
| 10 | | University from April 1960 to May 1961, when he was called to |
| 11 | | serve in the military; he married Beverly Sampson at Greenview |
| 12 | | Christian Church on June 18, 1961; he served in the U.S. Army |
| 13 | | from 1961 to 1963; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Alongside his brother John A., Bob McAllister |
| 15 | | co-owned and operated Danvers Lumber Company, which their |
| 16 | | father purchased in 1956; he and his brother also owned and |
| 17 | | operated the McAllister Lumber Company in Minier from 1979 to |
| 18 | | 1995; prior to retirement, he completed his time in the lumber |
| 19 | | business with the Hundman Lumber Company in Bloomington; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Bob McAllister was a member of Minier Christian |
| 21 | | Church, where he sang in the worship choir and was an adult |
| 22 | | Sunday school teacher; he was involved in a number of |
|

| 1 | | organizations, including the Christian Church Campus Ministry |
| 2 | | Board at Illinois State University, the Danvers Lions Club, the |
| 3 | | Danvers Lodge AF & AM 742, the Danvers Advisory Council, the |
| 4 | | Olympia Advisory Council, and the Minier Association of |
| 5 | | Commerce; he served as the Danvers Township clerk and as |
| 6 | | co-chairman of the Danvers Bicentennial Committee; he played |
| 7 | | trombone in the Danvers Town Band for over 50 years; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Bob McAllister truly enjoyed conversation, |
| 9 | | spending time with his family, and seeing this great country; |
| 10 | | and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Bob McAllister was preceded in death by his |
| 12 | | parents; an infant sister; his brother, John A.; and an infant |
| 13 | | daughter, Roberta; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Bob McAllister is survived by his wife; his |
| 15 | | children, Phyllis (David) Eversole, Sharon (John) Neeley, and |
| 16 | | James (Jennifer Deigl) McAllister; his grandchildren, Lauren |
| 17 | | (Adam) Tomlinson, Amanda (Caleb) Bent, Grace (Jake) Simons, |
| 18 | | Michael Neeley, Adelle McAllister, and Henry McAllister; his |
| 19 | | great-grandsons, Nathanael Tomlinson and Caleb Tomlinson; and |
| 20 | | his sister-in-law, Dalene McAllister; therefore, be it

| 21 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
