2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Joe "Wayne" Gragg Jr. of Springfield, who |
4 | | passed away on April 11, 2020; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Gragg was born to Joe Wayne Gragg Sr. and |
6 | | Susan Cleora Hogan in Springfield on June 23, 1968; he |
7 | | graduated from Southeast High School in 1986 and proudly served |
8 | | his country in the U.S. Army for eight years; he married Tomoko |
9 | | Davis in 1991 and later married Jacqueline Sims in 2000; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Gragg worked for many years in the field of |
11 | | fiber optics and then with the U.S. Postal Service until his |
12 | | retirement on March 24, 2019; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Gragg was a member of the American Legion |
14 | | Post 809; he was an avid studier and teacher of Hebrew biblical |
15 | | studies; he enjoyed fishing and a good laugh and was a very |
16 | | charismatic person who left a lasting impression on those he |
17 | | met; he had a repository of information and could always hold |
18 | | meaningful and thought-provoking conversations; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Gragg was preceded in death by his mother, |
20 | | Susan Lewis; his paternal grandparents, Wordia and Bernice |
21 | | Gragg; his maternal grandfather, Harlan Hogan; his maternal |

1 | | grandparents, Robert and Rosemary Moore; his brother, Shawn |
2 | | Gragg; and his brother-in-law, Timothy Sims; and

3 | | WHEREAS, Wayne Gragg is survived by his wife of 20 years, |
4 | | Jacqueline Gragg; his children, Taylor (Miles) Ray, Devan |
5 | | Gragg, Gershom Gragg, and Keziah Gragg; his father, Joe Wayne |
6 | | (Diann) Gragg Sr.; his step-father, Eugene Lewis; his siblings, |
7 | | Michael Gragg, Colin Gragg, and Jenna Hickman; his |
8 | | sisters-in-law, Chantelle Gragg and Ashley Sims; his |
9 | | brothers-in-law, Craig, John, and Herman Sims; and his aunts, |
10 | | uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
|
11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

13 | | Joe "Wayne" Gragg Jr. and extend our sincere
condolences to his |
