SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Raleigh J. Harris III of Pontiac, who
4passed away on March 25, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Raleigh Harris III was born in Pontiac to Raleigh
6J. and Betty Dolan Harris Jr. on November 9, 1943; he attended
7schools in Pontiac and the Roosevelt Military Academy in Aledo;
8he graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science and
9Funeral Service in Wheeling; he married Ramona Barickman in
10Streator on January 24, 1965; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Raleigh Harris III owned and operated the Raleigh
12J. Harris Funeral Home in Pontiac for several years; he also
13owned and operated the Stewart Funeral Home in Cullom and the
14Von Qualen-Harris Funeral Home in Dwight; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Raleigh Harris III was a member of the First
16United Methodist Church in Pontiac, the Pontiac Elks Club, the
17Rustic Auto Club, the Central Illinois Woodworkers Club, and
18the "Gas House Gang"; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Raleigh Harris III was preceded in death by his
20parents and one daughter in infancy, Amy Harris; and

1    WHEREAS, Raleigh Harris III is survived by his wife; his
2son, Thomas (Ginger) Harris; his daughter, Kimberly (Greg)
3Yoder; his grandchildren, Gabrielle Henderson, Felicia Harris,
4Serena Harris, Nathan Yoder, and Tabitha Yoder; his
5step-granddaughter, Cortney Schilling; his seven
6great-grandchildren; and his three step-great-grandchildren;
7therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Raleigh J. Harris III and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Raleigh Harris III as an expression
15of our deepest sympathy.
