2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Phillip Jay "Flip" Mandel of Costa Mesa, |
4 | | California, formerly of Peoria, who passed away on March 24, |
5 | | 2020; and

6 | | WHEREAS, Phillip Mandel was born to Dorothy Van De Veer |
7 | | Mandel and Harold R. Mandel on September 5, 1951; he grew up |
8 | | and spent most of his adult life in Peoria; he moved to |
9 | | Southern California in February 2017; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Phillip Mandel was a gifted interior designer, |
11 | | appreciated for his ability, taste, and timeless design; he was |
12 | | exceptionally skilled at translating a vision into reality; and
|
13 | | WHEREAS, Phillip Mandel was known for his tender heart, |
14 | | unconditional support, wit, candor, and intuition; he enjoyed |
15 | | playing bridge, vacationing with family and friends, listening |
16 | | to classical music, eating chocolate ice cream, and spending |
17 | | time with his grandchildren; and

18 | | WHEREAS, Phillip Mandel is survived by his husband, Gerald |
19 | | Haley; his daughter, Jenny Mandel; his son, Jordan (Crystal) |
20 | | Mandel; his grandchildren, Micah Rubin Mandel and Cora Jade |
21 | | Mandel; his sisters, Nancy (William) Suwalski and Heidi (Keith) |
